8th JUNE- DESCRIBING A CITY

London is the capital city of the United Kingdom (UK). It  is  in southeast England, on both sides of the Thames River. In London there are exciting attractions, fascinating museums, theatres, cinemas and parks. It is an important tourist city with famous buildings and places like the Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace ⇒and the London Eye. There is a famous clock in the Houses of Parliament called Big Ben. Buckingham Palace is the London residence of the Queen. There are other attractions like the British Museum and London Bridge.There is a tall wheel by the river Thames, opposite the Houses of Parliament. It’s the London Eye.

• Utiliza There is /are para describir las cosas que hay. Recuerda el vocabulario que hemos trabajado de los sitios de la ciudad

MY TOWN: NEWQUAY

I live in Newquay. It’s a small town on the Atlantic coast in the south of England.

There are great beaches and is the best place to surf in the UK. There are lots of surf schools where you can learn how to surf. I go surfing with my friends every weekend. 

My favourite place is Fistral Beach.

I love Newquay because there are lots of other things to do as well as surfing. 

If you like animals you can also visit the Blue Reef Aquarium and see lots of different fish and even sharks. There is a  Zoo. There are lots of other attractions too like mini golf and bowling.

Today is Monday and it`s a sunny day.

Hoy empezamos unidad trabajando vocabulario nuevo: lugares de la ciudad. Tendréis que hacer este tablero de juegos que comienza con un pequeño vídeo. Hoy nos toca repasar el presente simple y las rutinas diarias; os dejo un listening de un chico universitario que practica natación y en una entrevista (interview) nos cuenta su rutina. Luego contestar unas preguntas.

• Interviewer: Hello, Dan. 

 Dan: Hi.

•  Interviewer: Can you tell me about a typical day in your life for the school magazine? 

 Dan: Yeah, sure. 

•  Interviewer: So, what time do you get up?

 Dan: Oh, I get up very early. I get up every day at 5 o’clock and go to the pool. Then I swim from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock.

•  Interviewer: You get up at 5 o’clock? Wow, that’s early! 

 Dan: Yeah. Then at 8 o’clock I have a shower, I get dressed and I have breakfast. I have a big breakfast: cereals, toast, bacon and eggs and orange juice. 

•  Interviewer: What do you do after breakfast?

 Dan: At 11 o’clock I go to university. I’m studying sports science and I have classes from 11 o’clock to 4 o’clock. 

•  Interviewer: When do you have lunch? 

  Dan: I have lunch at about 2 o’clock at the university.

•   Interviewer: What do you do after classes?

  Dan: Sometimes I go to the gym and sometimes I meet my friends at a café. 

•  Interviewer: What time do you have dinner? 

  Dan: I have dinner at 7 o’clock, then I watch TV or go online and I usually go to bed at 10 o’clock.

•   Interviewer: Thanks,

 Dan. That’s a busy day!
